Free book FriYAY

Perla Trujillo and Nicole Najera

Long Beach, CA- On Friday, February 3rd, the Wilson High School library hosted their Free Book Friday event. The librarians Ms. Ladas and Mrs. Lampkins laid out books for students to pick up for FREE.  “For the school year we’ve given away hundreds of free books, ” Mrs. Lampkins said. This event encourages students to read and find a great book. The librarians offer many entertaining and educational books which students can choose from. “There’s a lot of good books here, a lot of classics and good informational books” Trinity Demas in 12th grade in tech pathway stated. Nowadays many teens do not read very often, so this event was a great way to promote reading to students. “I think it’s a great opportunity to help people get into the habit of reading more, I read a lot now, ” Trinity Demas also added. No matter the book, it’s a good step in the right direction. Mrs.Lampkins also said “I think any books if they are informational, or even if it’s just manga, any kind of books are still beneficial, you’re still reading and exercising that part of your brain.”
