LONG BEACH CA- On Saturday, Nov 4th the season came to an end when the Bruins lost in round two of CIFs 6-14, against Foothill High School. Although the season ended with a loss this season has meant so much more than that to these seniors
Coach Zac Polmanteer had only one thing to say about this year’s water polo seniors: “Small but mighty.” The boys’ water polo class of 2024 is made up of six boys, Wyatt Mitchell, Antonio Loria-Apuzzo, Ace Dumont, Hank Sander, Gerardo Garcia-Morales, and Roni Rojas.
Center defender and Tech student Wyatt Mitchell spoke about what this season meant to him. “It’s just been an accumulation [season] of four years of hard work,” Mitchell stated, and went on to say how this team has been his “whole life for the last four years.”
Over this season, Mitchell and other players have formed close connections with their teammates. Center and Biomed student Hank Sanders spoke about their team’s bond, saying “It’s a Brotherhood [we come] together with similar interests and it transforms into something bigger than just that.”
The players have played good and bad games, but no matter what you always see them together lifting each other, win or lose. Utility player and Tech student Gerardo Garcia-Morales spoke about the support and bond this team has shown him saying it has “built my confidence” in and out of the water.
The seniors on this team share thankfulness for their coach, each other, and ultimately those who supported them along their journey through high school water polo.
